Reading by Anthony McCarten
Moderation: Rikarde Riedesel
Anthony McCarten’s plays and novels enjoy a good reputation all over the world and fascinate a huge audience. 'In the Absence of Heroes' is the fifth novel of the New Zealand author that is available in a German translation. Again he succeeded to touch his readers with his brilliant style of narrating to create impressing images. On the same time he flavors his stories with a sense of humor. Jeff Delpe is now the protagonist of his new novel and the older brother of Donald, the protagonist of McCarten’s first novel 'Superhero' who died from leukemia. Jeff submersed and is only available on the virtual world of cyberspace for his parents. His father tries to get in contact with him, but might this threaten his family to drift apart?
The film adaption of 'Superhero' will be shown at the German cinemas in August under the title 'Am Ende eines viel zu kurzen Tages'.
The Kulturgemeinde will show Anthony McCarten’s best known play "Ladies’ Night” on stage in the course of the Berleburger Literaturpflaster. The audience can experience Anthony McCarten as an author and play writer; a chance, you should not miss.
