New Zealand is a wine land. The climatic width of both islands is a basic requirement for wine growing and the good reputation, which the wines enjoy, even in Germany.
The Schloss-Schänke succeeded in winning over the wine merchant Friedhelm Conrad and the vintner Karl-H. Johner and to offer a journey through the vineyards on the other side of the world.
Johner is part of the first league of German Vintners; the family business is based at the Kaiserstuhl and owns several acreages in New Zealand. Formidable wines are grown there and developed to a good wine.
This evening should be especially exciting, because varietals like Burgundy (Pinot) from France were grown at the Kaiserstuhl as well as in New Zealand. How the climate and the ground influence the grapes, can your nose, tongue and the roof of the mouth try this evening, which you should not miss.
