Reading by Michael Christie (VHS)

Michael Christie has a wonderful talent for storytelling. He succeeds in weaving together the life stories of four generations. Forest, trees, wood and how they are used are the connecting element between the storylines. The novel ranges from the beginning of the 20th century to the future, the middle of the 21st century. And it is frightening how close this future comes to us with the dying of the forests. Michael Christie portrays the characters and their intertwined lives so vividly that you are literally sucked into the story. The storylines change, so that the change of perspective adds to the suspense.
Jacinda's story takes place in the future after the great withering, after trees have become a protected rarity and the earth is sinking into dust. This vision has a timeliness that compels reflection.
Due to travel restrictions, the Canadian authors will not be travelling to the Book Fair, but the author will be joining them for the reading via video and will be available for discussion.
