When you think of Spanish literature, you might instantly think of Don Quixote and his fight against windmills. Dealing with Spanish literature is unthinkable without encountering the "knight of the sad figure". Other encuentros are at ¡Viva la literatura! probably new - and possibly mark the beginning of a longer lasting (reading) passion.

If you look at the new publications presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair, you are confronted with contemporary literature. For example, we accompany the investigative couple Rubén Bevilacqua and Virginia Chamorro in their work in the homicide squad. The popular crime writer Lorenzo Silva brought this duo to the big screen which was very successful. They also presented novels that deal with current topics such as the effects of the real estate and financial crisis in Spain or are dedicated to a subject that is always in demand: love.

We will begin with a very special journey: the odyssey of the Spanish conqueror Cabeza de Vaca through 16th-century North America.

Thanks to the support of the Kur-Apotheke Karsten Wolter, there will again be literature on prescription this year. After the successful start of the popular Literaturpflaster event at the new venue in the "Museum am Rothaarsteig", we are pleased to be able to present Spanish literature at this location. Of course, a medicinal plant from the host country should not be missing.
