Hannu Hautala (born in 1941) is a pioneer in Finnish nature photography and the first professional nature photographer of Finland. The compilation by Hannu Hautala "Der Mann im finnischen Wald 1962-2009" (The man in the Finnish forest 1962-2009”) retrospectively shows a cross-section of the nature photographer's work: It describes the beginning as a hobby photographer, his active working life and finally his latest work as a pensioner.
For his exhibition Hautala chose a collection of pictures summarizing the most important stages of his work: the Northern Lights at different times of the day and of the year, the Finnish forests, and beyond pictures full of motion and photos depicting extraordinary situations.
The retired photographer is busy even today: "My walks are shorter meanwhile but I am still very happy to be in the forests to take some pictures."
Hautala's works can be admired in more than 40 books of photographs. Today his life's work is managed by the Hannu Hautala Foundation.
