by Katja Heinzelmann
Katja Heinzelmann will present the great variety of finish fairy tales this evening and she will open a door to this rough, dark Nordic country.
She takes the audience away to a journey into a world where the farmer lives a dire existence on a poor and stony soil, where wolves and bears live in the forests and are able to metamorphose into human beings, where the fisherman has to work hard for some fish in the stormy and cold sea and the salesman who takes on dangerous voyages to foreign countries.
She invites the audience to follow her to the wretched huts of the charcoal burner and the lumberjacks who long for a brighter and richer world and to live a carefree life.
The protagonists of these fairy tales dream of listening to the kantele, an instrument that is quite similar to a zither, in a “stony” house.
This is where horses and cattle reproduce on the farmstead, where the store of flour and bread never runs out and the hero of the fairy tale lives a glory and wealthy life.
