Kjell Westö is one of the most famous Finnish Swedish authors. He is a master of telling by captivating the audience till the last page of his novel. He won the renowned Finlandia prize for his novel “Wo wir einst gingen“ (meaning “Where we went in former times”) in 2006. Without exception the action of his novels takes place in Helsinki, but above all his expressive characters shape the plot and determine his distinctive way of telling.
„Das Trugbild“ is the 6th novel which has been translated into German. The story takes place shortly before World War II and it portrays the society of the Finnish capital in an impressively detailed way.
Kjell Westö´s novel is an example of a perfect combination of fictional characters and historical facts. That is why it is difficult to put the book down. The evening with Kjell Westö is featured by Paul Berf who has not only made a name for himself as a translator of major Swedish authors, his enthusiasm for Scandinavian literature is also really infective.
Paul Berf will moderate this evening and beyond his task will be the language mediation between author and listeners.
