The first novel with the title "The Question of Red" by Laksmi Pamuntjak, a renowned journalist, essayist and lyricist, deals with the notorious island of "Buru", where people arbitrarily have been taken, detained without trial, tortured and killed since the takeover of Suhortu in 1965.

Laksmi Pamuntjak tells the story about Amba, a 60 year old widow, visiting the former prison camp in 2006 in search of her great love Bhisma. In the turmoil of 1965 they lost sight of each other and it was only many years later that Amba got hints what happened to Bhisma. The reader gets to know the life stories of Amba, Bhisma and Samuel who is Amba's travelling companion and comes from Buru. Their fates are closely connected with the events in Indonesia between 1965 and 2006. The touching love story develops against the background of the historical facts and Pamuntiak's detailed research.

So reading becomes an experience and the evening with Laksmi Pamuntjak will be unforgettable.
