Reading by Markus Nummi
Moderation und Translation:
Stefan Moster
The release of Markus Nummi´s novel 'Candy Day' proved his sensitive art of storytelling. It was the first of his novels that has been translated into German. This novel deals with the problems of social work through the example of two children in difficult situations linked with the question concerning the intervention of the welfare state and the discrepancy to individual experiencing.
His latest novel is set in India and in the Chinese province of Eastern Turkestan, a foreign world between mountains, deserts and the gods of Asia. One of the characters, Kamil, tells little Nora on the run through the snow a story about love, loss and friendship that remains valid even across borders.
This evening will be presented by Stefan Moster, translator of Markus Nummi´s works. He does not only know Nummi´s novel in detail but his translation is as brilliant as the original in Finnish. This reading will be unforgettable.
