by Katja Heinzelmann
Fairy tales from Flanders and the Netherlands can be considered as typical European tales. There can be found French influences as well as Alemannic and Germanic narrative tradition. The fairy tales are affected by the different cultures of each country.
On this magic evening Katja Heinzelmann invites the audience to experience the characteristics of Flemish and Dutch fairy stories. The majority of the tales take place at the sea; the main theme is water and its animals and mythical creatures. The stories are full of yarn, often rough and coarse.
Living in the countryside is the topic of a further narrative tradition. Their protagonists are often lucky just because of their shrewdness.
Let yourself be charmed.
