"The mother is a neurotic who comes from moneyed aristocracy, the father is a control freak, the uncle is a prisoner on day release, the grandmother is an old goat herd – the Vandersandens are both extravagant and wealthy. Just Sarah, the only child of the family, tries to escape the golden cage. It is a wonderful ironic social novel about a kinky family. The Vandersandens live a well-ordered life in the villa area “Der Berg” behind high hedges in a double alarm-protected house. The mother Mieke combs carpet fringes to relax; the father Stefaan always knows a Dylan song matching different life situations. And the daughter Sarah is urged to make an appointment for a visit of her school friends two weeks in advance. Things change when Mieke’s brother is released from prison; he decides to stay at the Vandersandens and he shows Sarah a world beyond the cocoon full of boredom. Saskia de Coster´s story deals with the insight that material safety does not protect from the risk of life. And it tells about the pleasure to take uncertainties lightly."

The plot of the novel covers 30 years and thus she creates an impressive social novel leaving its trace even after having closed the book..

Saskia de Coster will be supported by the musician Inne Eysermans.

Saskia de Coster, born in 1976 in Löwen, is one of the most renowned and most successful authors in Begium. For »Wir und ich« she was awarded the Opzij Prize for Literature.

Inne Eysermans

Inne Eysermans is front woman and musician of the Belgian band Amatorski. In the past six years they published two albums and created several soundtracks. Inne Eysermans processes soundtracks for text sound performances together with Saskia de Coster, one of the most successful Belgian authors. Apart from that she composes music for audio documentation and similar productions of the radio director Katharina Smets.
