Thomas Heerma van Voss ranks as one of the greatest writer in the Netherlands. Recently his first novel in German was published.

"Since the day of Hugo Stern´s early retirement nothing is as it once was. His former idyllic life as a teacher at a primary school in Amsterdam slowly fades away. Stern remembers his childhood in a small narrow village; he remembers his adolescence in the London during the swinging sixties that has not made him free as hoped, and he remembers the love for his wife Merel alienating more and more. Stern´s last hope is his son, adopted from abroad under complicated circumstances, but he also begins going his own way. The changes in his family and the social upheavals mean a tough test for Stern. His character can be described as uncompromising which causes a lot of trouble for him. Thomas Heerma van Voss`s novel "Stern geht" (meaning: "Stern goes") is a touching story about the relationship between father and son and the portray of a headstrong dreamer."

Thomas Heerma van Voss will be supported by the translator Ulrich Faure who is the moderator of the evening.
