by Katja Heinzelmann
In Bad Berleburg it has been a long tradition to introduce the guest country of the Literaturpflaster by presenting its fairy tales. This year storyteller Katja Heinzelmann has chosen some Georgian fairy tales that reflect the special characteristics of the country.
The hunt motif can be found especially in very old Georgian fairy tales. But Christianity influenced the topic of the stories. Thus the later Georgian stories tell about the social changes of the country and about its traditions. An often used stylistic device are the magic numbers as there is a travel behind nine mountains, the dragon with nine heads and apart from that the number three often appears in the texts.
On this evening the audience can join a fairy-like journey to the Far East and will get to know Georgia from a different side.
