Photo Exhibition: "Küste Brasiliens"

Ita Kirsch's and Simone Blauth's exhibition is dedicated to the coast of Brasilia. The diversity of this vast country corresponds to the many different coastal landscapes. Ita Kirsch and Simone Blauth had been toured Brazil for eight months from north to south. Throughout their more than 8.000 kilometres coast expedition they took a lot of pictures which will make the visitors of the exhibition think over the importance of this country. The main subjects of the pictures are water traces in the sand, surge of waves that are shaped like crowns, the sky mirroring in the sea and the human being between sea and coast. Their opus is a poetic mosaic consisting of pictures which mirror the atmosphere of the country, the coast dweller's living conditions and the diversity of the Brazilian nature. The exhibition proves their love to this country.
Their 80 large-seized opera will make visitors believe to walk the coasts of Brazil even in Bad Berleburg. They will get a marvellous approach to the host country of this year's "Literaturpflaster".

Ita Kirsch
Ita Kirsch was born in 1955 as a descendant of German immigrants in Novo Hamburgo, state Rio Grande do Sul, in south Brazil. He is a travel, studio and reportage photographer. He has been consecrating himself since 1984 to shoot both nature and the population all over the world. He already published four books to this subject:
- "Visões do Rio Grande" [Notes of his state] / 2004
- "Bem Brasil" [Genuine Brazil] / 2008
- "Mãos Meninas Mulheres" [Hands, Girls, Women] / 2011
- "Costa do Brasil" [Coast of Brazil] / 2012
He presented his works at 25 solo exhibitions, four group and touring exhibitions and seven multivision shows. He works on photographic essays for magazines, newspapers, websites and blogs. Furthermore he loves to teach photographing.
Simone Blauth
Simone Blauth was born in 1962 as a descendant of German immigrants in Novo Hamburgo, too. She has been attending to photography since 1998. The focus of her work is on essays, visual productions and the distribution of photographic and cultural products. She presented her works at 20 solo exhibitions, besides she organized seven multimedia shows in collaboration with Kirsch and she participated in four group exhibitions. The following quote taken from an interview proves her passion for photography and her country: "It is a kind of religion to us to travel the landscapes of Brazil. It feeds our minds, it is the basis of our faith and it overwhelms us. (...) We cruised many ways on many maps all over the world. But our feelings originate and arise only here, at the place of our roots, it is where our eyes are filled with tears."
