Brazilian fairy tales vary much more than fairy tales of other countries due to their different origins which makes the stories distinctive.
The fairy tales of the Indians are characterised by oral tradition, beauty and poetry.
There are even European fairy tales in Brazil. The immigrants from Europe brought both to their new home: culture and fairy tales. There is a high diversity of fairy tales due to the different cultures and all recall famous European fairy tales.
And not forgetting the fairy tales of the about three and a half billion black slaves who have been displaced within three centuries from Africa into the country. The Slaves were not allowed to live according to their culture but they told their fairy tales on the quiet. That is why these stories are famous even today.
Katja Heinzelmann will fascinate even twice young and old with these different Brazilian fairy tales in the course of this year's "Literaturpflaster".
